A WIN AT ROAD AMERICA!
June 7, 2008: Sixth overall and winner of the BMW GrandSport Twins (GST) division was the No. 59 RightsforBikers.com Ducati PS1000LE ridden by Justin Filice of Daytona Beach, Fla, Armando Ferrer from Caracas, Venezuela and Roldolfo Ramirez of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Filice rode a strong opening stint with his dad Jimmy Filice on the No. 9 Pair-A-Nines Kawasaki on the wet track to put the No. 59 Ducati in the class lead. The father-son duo battled it out the entire first stint.
"I have to give a lot of credit to my dad," Justin Filice said. "He led me around early on and showed me some spots I could use a little more throttle."
More than just a win, Justin and his dad will long remember this event as Justin's first roadrace win ever and Jimmy's first win at Road America.
Armando picked up the pace as the track conditions went from wet to dry and maintained the lead, finishing 18.559 seconds ahead of the second place team. The pair started and finished the race on one set of rain tires.
Finishing 4th in the GST class and 19th overall were riders Jason Edmonds and John Linder. Starting the race on DOT tires in the rain promised to be a challenge for the no. 69 Ducati, unable to make up the time as the track dried.

Two podiums at VIR!
April 28, 2008: Riders Justin Filice and Rodolfo Ramirez overcame a number of obstacles to finish 3rd in the SST class during the 2 ½ hour race at VIR on April 27th, 2008.
The team participated in the 1 ½ hour scheduled practice and qualifying on Saturday morning, but with a limited number of laps. Justin Filice set out on the Suzuki SV1000 and found quickly that the set-up for the two lightweight riders needed some major tuning, and the crew needed to repair a faulty front brake line. With only 2-3 laps in per rider, and no qualifying laps, the crew set out to get the bike in order for Sunday’s race, while the Ducati PS1000LE had a flawless practice and qualified in 5th place.
Rain didn’t hold back the start of the VIR 500K on Sunday morning at 9:15am. Gridded in the back of the SST class, rider Justin Filice turned his best lap time of a 2:03.177 on lap 60 and consistently made fast laps to lead a total of 19 laps in the 70 lap race. The team chose to run slicks at the beginning of the race, a decision that put them at a serious advantage. While other teams pitted to change tires, Justin opened the gap on the other front-runners. After a fuel stop and rider change it was decided, based upon position and time left in the race, that the team would change the rear tire…and it had to be flawless!
In for the pit stop – bike is refueled and crew gets to work changing the rear when snap…the axel breaks. Steve Walker runs over the wall to the spare bike and grabs the axel. The team in all may have lost about 30 seconds on the stop but the crew did a great job recovering from the incident. At that point the team was passed by the #1 Aprilia and the #75 Ducati. Filice finished out the last stint on the podium!
The Ducati PS1000LE finishes in 2nd!
Riders Jason Edmonds and John Linder rode a very consistent race to finish in 2nd place in the competitive GST class. Edmonds rode the first stint up until about half way through the race when rider John Linder took over. Consistent lap times, no mechanicals and flawless pit stops earned the team the 2nd place spot on the podium.
TEAM LOOKING
TO GRAB THE BRASS RING AT VIR
April 23, 2008; Bradenton, Fla...Looking to grab the brass ring, Team RightsForBikers.com are making their way to Virginia International Raceway and Round 2 of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series, April 27.
“We are definitely ready for a win,” says team owner and well-known Florida attorney C.J. Czaia. “VIR is a spectacular track and a great place to race. Last year, despite an accident, we earned our first Podium finish at this track. If things go smoothly, we should definitely be able to grab the brass ring.”
Competing in both the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport Twins class (SST) and in BMW GrandSport Twins class (GST), Team RightsForBikers.com will field Justin Filice and Rodolfo Ramirez aboard a Suzuki SV1000 in SST and Floridians John Linder and Jason Edmonds on a Ducati PS1000LE in the GST class.
Ramirez, who hails from Venezuela is new to the team this season. He has been racing in Florida for the past six years. In 2007 he ran actually his own team, Team Florida, in the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series and showed the fans that despite a multitude of problems and lack of funds they were one of the top teams in the series.
“I think we can do well in the SST class with Filice and Ramirez aboard,” says Czaia. “One of the things they have going for them is that they are both lightweight and that is a definite plus with the Suzuki SV1000. We scored a fifth place in SST at VIR last year and would really like to better this time out.”
While Ramirez raced at VIR last year, this event will mark the first time Filice has run the entire course. “I’m excited,” says the native Californian. “It is an outstanding track and I can’t wait to take some laps. Naturally, my dad has given me some pointers and with a little practice I should have it dialed.”
Equally as determined are Linder and Edmonds. “We are ready for another top finish,” they both echo. “The crew has been working double time to make sure our bikes are in top shape and they know what it takes. We have one of the best crews in the series and they want to win as much as we do. This will also be the first race with timed qualifying and that will really make a difference. It will be good for us and for the fans. We are ready to go.”

A TOUGH WEEKEND FOR TEAM RIGHTSFORBIKERS.COM
Bradenton, Fla…The SunTrust MOTO-ST Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway, March 2, proved to be a tough weekend for Team RightsForBikers.com.
Fielding Justin Filice and Robert Fisher in the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport Twins class (SST) and Jason Edmonds, John Linder and Rodolfo Ramirez in the BMW GrandSport Twins class, Team RightsForBikers.com was set for a good run.
“However in racing things don’t always go the way you plan,” explains team owner, C.J. Czaia. “And, this was definitely one of those times. We ran in the two-hour practice and both our Suzuki SV1000 and our Ducati 1000S were running perfectly. We had just put a new engine in our SST Suzuki and with our practice results we figured we were good to go.”
When the Green Flag waved, both bikes thundered off the start and began to move up through the field. Nine laps later, the Suzuki lost power and limped back into the pits.
“The crew checked it out,” continues Czaia, “but to no avail. The engine had seized and there was nothing we could do to get back out on the track.”
“It was really disappointing,” said Filice who recently inked a contract to ride for the team throughout the 2008 season. “Hopefully this was our one unlucky race for the season and it will be smooth sailing from now on.”
While our SST bike was out of the running, the team’s No. 69 GST Ducati going strong. “The entire team did a great job,” says Czaia. “Everything went perfectly and when the race ended we took first place in class.”
However, it was a victory short lived as the team was penalized for exceeding the class horsepower limit in post-race tech.
“We went through tech after practice and were fine,” says Czaia. “We put the bike away, brought it out before the race and didn’t touch it. I’m not sure what happened. We should have been fine, but apparently we weren’t. We were the first through tech and perhaps the bike was still too hot. I don’t know, but it is definitely something we have to work on. While it was a tough weekend for us, we will be back in full force ready to fly our Czaia & Gallagher PA and PIAA colors at Round 2 at Virginia International Raceway, April 27.
